I am committed to using this blog daily to encourage you and I to find our healthiest selves.
Once, in college, I weighed 300 pounds. I lost a lot of it about five years ago, only to gain a bunch of the weight back after a major cross-country move. Long story short, I’ve never been normal weight. And frankly, that’s all I’ve ever wanted. Normalcy. I’m getting there… I think. I lost 70 lbs in 2009 and have about 40 more to go (as of January 2010).
Regarding this blog: Yes, it is probably the most narcissistic thing I’ve ever done. It’s like Facebook on crack. And I’m really not too sure what I want from this, but I like the idea of making my weekly Weight Watchers weigh-ins public. It’s the kind of accountability I need to continue on to my goal weight. It’s also fun learning how to take pictures of food and posting the corresponding recipes. Who doesn’t love reading about food everyday?
As for the name, “The Grateful Apron,” it came from the idea of connecting my favorite women with handcrafted aprons my mom and I made (and will continue making) together. We all have something to be grateful for, and I hope this blog reminds you to highlight whatever it may be.
